Car makers are circling the wagons as the Chinese assault on the Australian market continues unabated.

In a bid to make ownership more attractive, Mitsubishi has just added 10-year roadside assistance to already generous 10-year warranty and 10-year capped price service programs.

To give this some perspective, sales of Japanese vheicles are down substantially as the year draws to a close -- Mitsubishi's by more than 16 per cent, Nissan by 18 per cent and Suzuki by 24 per cent.

Toyota and Honda are hanging in there, but Mazda and Subaru are have also posted single figure losses.

It's a limited market and new car sales have to come from somewhere, and one manufacturer's gain is generally another's loss.

Mitsubishi's Tom Pitman said the rollout of MMAL’s enhanced warranty program is the next step in continuing Mitsubishi’s long-standing commitment to customer care.

“The evolution of our Diamond Advantage program from 10/10 to 10/10/10 reflects Mitsubishi’s unwavering dedication to delivering a best-in-class vehicle ownership experience,” he said.

“Our customers have long identified Diamond Advantage as a unique selling point for Mitsubishi, which enhanced the ownership experience. The new 10/10/10 program takes this to new heights.

“MMAL has built a legacy upon its reliability and continued aftermarket support spanning 45 years and supported by one of the biggest dealership networks in Australia – that’s something we plan on continuing for many years to come.”

This addition forms the new Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage 10/10/10 program, applicable to all new vehicles sold from today onwards (24MY, 25MY and future models).

Under the new 1program, the first 12 months of roadside assistance is complimentary with new vehicles and is extended for a further 12 months upon completion of each eligible capped price service at a Mitsubishi Motors dealership, for a maximum of 10 years.

The Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage 10/10/10 program succeeds MMAL’s 10/10 program which set a new benchmark in the Australian market  with four years of roadside assistance at launch in October, 2020.

Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage Roadside Assistance will continue to be operated in conjunction with Assist Australia to offer 24/7 service Australia-wide.

Independent consumer research reveals that customers saw the outgoing 10/10 program as a unique selling point for Mitsubishi, adding significant value to the product and ownership experience.

The launch of MMAL’s Diamond Advantage 10/10/10 program marks 21 years to the day since it launched the pioneering ‘5-10’ warranty program in 2004, which then offered a five-year factory warranty and 10-year powertrain warranty.

Fingers crossed.
