Chinese car maker Zeekr's super hybrid the flagship 9X has gone on sale overseas.

Although Geely established Zeekr as an electric brand, the launch of the 9X sees it branching out to include hybrids.

Using its state-of-the-art facilities, it is developing its own software systems, e-powertrain and new energy vehicle supply chain.

The 9X is a plug-in hybrid and boasts a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 205kW of power together with 290kW front and 370kW rear electric motors.

Talk about overkill.

Built on next-generation 900-volt architecture, combined output is 1000kW of power and it dispatches the dash from 0-100km/h in just 3.1 seconds.

Pure electric range is an estimated at up to 380km under the Chinese CLTC system.

With a 70kWh lithium nickel manganese battery charging from 20–80 per cent takes just 8.5 minutes.

The 9X is big too at more than 5.2 metres in length, with a long 3169mm wheelbase.

It comes with the Haohan AI Digital Chassis, which includes advanced air suspension, active roll control and smart drive modes.

Zeekr says this system gives the SUV smooth comfort on highways and strong stability on rough terrain.

The air suspension has 110mm of total height adjustment delivering a maximum of 288mm of ground clearance, and can rise by 30mm in 7 seconds.

Safety features include Haohan Safety Armor, which aced the world’s first four-way crash test at 105km/h.

9X also adds new protections such as crosswind control, side-impact lift and automatic obstacle avoidance.

Inside, is a spacious three-row, six-seat cabin with Cloud Lounge seats, an electric split tailgate, and premium features such as a 17-inch OLED screen and 3800 watt Naim audio system for a luxury cabin experience.

Launch variants are priced from 465,900 to 599,900 Chinese Yuan (about $99,000-$127,000), with customer deliveries beginning immediately.

Zeekr is yet to confirm whether the 9X is coming to Australia, but says it is "actively exploring all relevant opportunities".

It currently markets the three electric models here: the 009 EV from $136,000, 7X EV from $58,000 and X EV from $50,000.
