In 1975 Rolls Royce released the Camargue.

But I bet you have heard very little in 2025 about its 50th anniversary.

And for good reason.

The Camargue was supposed to be a grand luxury tourer, the flagship of the company.

Instead, the Pininfarina-styled coupe did nothing to enhance the brand.

It cost almost twice as much as the four-door Silver Shadow and 50 per cent more than the Corniche.

Apart from having two less doors and being stylistically challenged, it was hard to see the point of the car.

The styling was a heavy-handed remake of Pininfarina’s 1957 Lancia Florida, which had also been used as the template for the better-looking Fiat 130 coupe.

And even GM did a better job when it mimicked the Camargue in the form of the 1977 Buick LeSabre coupe.

Roll-Royce sold only 525 Camargues.

I've not met anyone who likes the styling.
