Orders are being taken for Subaru's all-new, sixth generation Forester which sees the debut of a stronger hybrid powertrain.

Seven highly specified variants will be offered, three of them hybrids, priced from $43,490 plus on-roads.

Subaru says the new hybrid represents a significant leap forward in performance for the brand.

The Hybrid e-Boxer system packs more punch, with 145kW of combined power – a 31.8 per cent increase.

Maximum power of 121kW arrives at 5600 rpm. Maximum torque of 212Nm is available from 4000-4400 rpm.

The system combines a 2.5-litre Boxer engine with a 90kW electric motor and 1.1kWh battery, to deliver a smoother, quieter, more responsive driving experience.

A new TH2B hybrid transaxle features a power split device (a planetary gearset) and a secondary electric motor/generator (MG1) that handles engine starts and battery recharging.

A transaxle damper replaces the traditional torque converter to suppress excess torque and noise for a smoother, quieter drive.

With significantly improved efficiency it offers a range of more than 1000km.

Fuel consumption is a claimed 6.2L/100km.

Regenerative braking that recharges the battery while driving, with Motor Assist to support acceleration, hill climbs, towing and low-traction conditions.

With impressive 220mm ground clearance, standard X-Mode, enhanced suspension tuning and new dual-pinion steering for improved precision and response, the all-new Forester remains purpose-built to tackle Aussie roads and terrain with confidence.

It’s an always-on system, proactively shifting power to where it’s needed most. And in hybrid variants, instant torque further enhances grip and low-speed control.

The result? Subaru says more confidence across a wide range of roads and conditions.

Inside, the Forester has been revamped to elevate comfort, connectivity and cabin refinement. Key features across the range include:

  • 11.6-inch high-definition infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Qi wireless smartphone charging pad
  • 12.3-inch digital driver display (on select hybrid variants)
  • 360 degree Surround View Monitor for increased visibility and off-road confidence
  • Enhanced cabin insulation and vibration damping for reduced interior noise
  • Ergonomic seating for increased comfort

Subaru’s latest-generation EyeSight Driver Assist technology is now standard across the range, featuring a new wide-angle monocular camera offering a wider field of view.

The new Emergency Driving Stop System Subaru Vision Assist, a Driver Monitoring System and nine airbags further strengthen Subaru’s commitment to occupant protection -- and its goal of zero fatal accidents in Subaru vehicles by 2030.

“Next-generation Forester is stronger, smarter and more capable than ever – and now with Subaru’s most advanced hybrid technology, it’s also more efficient,” Subaru's Scott Lawrence said.

“Whether you’re chasing everyday comfort, off-road adventure or driving confidence, Forester delivers in all areas.
