Warmenau for hotter Golf R

Volkswagen Golf R drivers will be able to hot up their new car with Warmenau upgrades.

Named after a village in Wolfsburg, Germany the new upgrades bring bespoke, weight-saving and performance-enhancing features to the R as a $6500 option.

Kinda like a Golf R Wolfsburg Edition, although they haven't trotted out one of these since 2017.

Developed in-house by Volkswagen Racing, Warmenau 19-inch forged alloys improve unsprung mass by reducing the weight of each by 20 per cent to 8kg

A high opening ratio for efficient venting also improves brake cooling – and by extension durability -- when tracking the Golf R.

The Warmenau package also sees the return of an Akrapovič exhaust.

Made from a titanium alloy, it is resistant to high temperatures and characterised by four striking round pipes, producing a unique and addictive sound.

It also brings a 7kg weight reduction when compared to the standard exhaust.

The Warmenau package also features genuine carbon decorative trim elements for the dashboard and doors, making the Golf R the only remaining production Volkswagen to offer genuine carbon.

VW's Arjun Nidigallu said the Golf R builds on Australia’s penchant for performance vehicles and the Warmenau package caters even further to the performance enthusiast.

“Australia is a very significant market globally for Volkswagen R and now the Warmenau package gives Australian customers the opportunity to own the definitive version of the ultimate performance Golf,” he said.

Priced from $70,990, Golf R delivers 245kW of power and 420Nm of torque from 2100-5100 rpm.

Coupled with a 7-speed DSG transmission, 4MOTION all-wheel drive technology and Adaptive Chassis Control, the Golf’s acceleration is delivered with precision and control.

The dash from 0-100km/h takes 4.6 seconds, reinforcing Volkswagen’s performance credentials among mainstream hot hatches.

The Warmenau package is available for the MY26 model Golf R with dealers are taking orders now.
