Chery Australia has confirmed specifications for its first fully-electric model, the Omoda E5.

Building on the design of the petrol-powered model, the E5 features a pronounced grille, which houses the charge port, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, twin rear spoilers (roof and bootlid), plus LED head, tail and daytime running lights.

There are two grades, Bx and Ex, both equipped with a single electric motor that produces 150kW of power and 340Nm of torque, with drive to the front wheels.

The dash from 0-100km/h takes  7.6 seconds and it uses 15.5 kWh/100km.

Chery claims a range of 430km (WLTP) and the E5 can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes with a fast DC charger.

The Omoda E5 is designed to impress across both variants, with the latest technology.

This includes 18-inch alloy wheels, dual 12.3-inch screens taking centre stage inside the cabin, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in navigation, 50W wireless phone charger, plus premium Sony audio with up to eight speakers.

Chery’s voice command system is also installed with drivers able to control features such as changing radio stations, opening windows and setting the climate without having to take their hands off the steering wheel.

E5 has a comprehensive list of active and passive safety features, including seven airbags including a centre airbag.

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), include adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane keeping assistance (LKA).

A full-size spare wheel is also included which is a rarity in this class of vehicle.

E5 will join the petrol-powered Omoda 5, TIGGO 7 Pro and TIGGO 8 Pro Max in local showrooms this September.

The battery is covered by an 8-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, while the vehicle is backed-up by Chery’s comprehensive 7-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, 7-year capped price servicing and up to 7 years of roadside assistance.

Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
