MG has invited expressions of interest in the stunning Cyberster electric sports car due here later in the year.

There's just one problem, it could cost anywhere from $100,000 to $150,000 -- so you're going to need deep pockets.

MG's Brad Chruszcz said the exact price of Cyberster is expected to be finalised closer to launch in the fourth quarter. 

“We’re really excited to be opening dealer orders and our official register of your interest for our all electric roadster," he said.

"We will be bringing limited numbers of these cars into the country so it’ll definitely be a case of supply versus demand, given the interest we’ve already had from the public and our 90 plus dealers."

Chruszcz said Cyberster will offer a compelling yet refined drive, with only the all-wheel drive model with a larger 77 kWh battery being offered at this stage.

It features a fully-electric fabric roof, available in either a deep red or black, that can be opened or closed in as little as 15 seconds.

While local specification is still to be confirmed, Chruszcz said Cyberster is set to catapult the grand touring experience into the electric era, an environment previously reserved for ultra-expensive GTs.

"The Cyberster pays respects to 100 years of MG creating vehicles that people love to drive," he said.

“Remember the original MG? Small and affordable, fun-driving roadsters like the 1960s’ and 1970s’ MGB and 1990s’ MG F?

"Well, decades later, it’s back and thriving with the Cyberster and I’m so excited to get our customers into these cars.

"Dealers are taking orders as we speak with the manufacturer's suggested retail price range that will fall between $100,000 and $150,000."
