S-Cross new flag bearer for range

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Suzuki had dropped off the radar, you hear so little from them these days. But they're still here and still selling cars and motorcycles in Australia, having just launched a 'new' S-Cross -- a small five-seat SUV. In fact, S-Cross is now being touted as a replacement for the Vitara as the new flagship of the range. There's two grades, Allgrip and Allgrip Prestige, priced from $40,990 and $44,490. But rather than being an all-new model, it is actually an extensively revised and updated version of the previous SX4 S-Cross sold from 2013 to 2021. Under the bonnet is Suzuki's tried and tested 1.4 litre Boosterjet direct injection turbocharged four cylinder engine, that puts out 103kW and 220Nm, coupled with a six-speed auto, including paddle shifts, and Allgrip Select 4X4 as standard. No sign of the 1.5-litre hybrid available overseas. The styling is more contemporary and inside you will find a new, larger 9.0-inch touchscreen display in the more expensive Prestige with a 360-view camera. The entry model gets a 7.0-inch screen with a standard reversing camera. Both feature built-in navigation, with support for wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Prestige adds wireless Carplay. Safety is strong with seven airbags, adaptive cruise control and auto emergency braking. There's also High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Weaving Alert, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloys, cloth trim, two-zone climate air, keyless entry and start, automatic LED headlights, daytime running lights and front and rear parking sensors. AS well as the aforementioned, Prestige adds leather, polished alloys and a panoramic sunroof. Suzuki's Michael Pachota said the introduction of the all-new S-Cross is influential for Suzuki's continued growth in the SUV market. "I am extremely excited to launch our flagship model - the all-new S-Cross.  This model is yet another stepping stone for Suzuki Australia to continue to increase our strong presence in the growing SUV market," he said.
